About
Fiona is a Dorset-based artist, surface pattern designer and art educator. Her artistic journey is rooted in her Fine Art background, where her creative process becomes an intricate exploration of the natural world.
She begins by assembling observational collages from hand-painted papers, which she then digitally refines into seamless, detailed patterns. Fiona’s work is profoundly shaped by the everyday moments spent with her children, translating these personal experiences into vibrant artworks born from direct observation. She approaches her art with a unique method of “drawing” with scissors, striking a delicate balance between spontaneity and precision.
This intuitive technique mirrors her emotional connection to the subjects she depicts, as well as the narratives that emerge from them. Her pieces exude a sense of wonder, presenting a dual perspective: the world as seen through both a parent’s and a child’s eyes, in a shared moment of discovery. Viewers are invited to slow down, find beauty in the mundane, and embrace the quiet joy of being present and attuned to nature.
Fiona’s wallpaper patterns seamlessly fuse the beauty of the outdoors with interior spaces. Her bold, maximalist designs create an immersive retreat from the chaos of modern life, offering a soothing reminder of nature’s healing and restorative power.
Her collection features The Good Life, a tribute to nature’s gifts of sustenance; Into the Woods, a celebration of outdoor adventures; and Flower Power, an expression of gratitude for the healing power of flowers and their role in promoting wellness and vitality.
Fiona was honoured to receive the prestigious Author’s Choice Award at New Designers in July 2024. She is currently showcasing her designs on their website, where select wallpapers are available for purchase.
