About

Fleur is a skilled pewtersmith who creates homeware and sculptures that bring elegance and intrigue to domestic and public spaces. Her work balances functionality and artistry, emphasizing the fluid, warm, and tactile qualities of pewter.
As one of the few contemporary pewtersmiths in the UK, Fleur has dedicated over 30 years to mastering this medium, which remains central to her practice. Fleur’s passion for pewter began during her studies at Sir John Cass in London and deepened through her M.A. at the Royal College of Art. Since then, her work has focused on designing and making sculptural functional homeware, art pieces and bespoke commissions.
Nature serves as a constant source of inspiration for Fleur, influencing both her creative process and final designs. Her recent series, Hidden Botanicals, exemplifies this connection by exploring the interplay between the natural world and molten pewter. In this body of work, Fleur collects organic materials such as leaves, fern fronds, seeds, and lichen from woodland floors. Using a unique process she has developed, she combines these botanicals, sometimes dried, sometimes preserved and sometimes even left in its natural state with molten pewter to create intricate, one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces.
Pewter’s intrinsic properties, particularly its low melting point, allow Fleur to achieve what seems impossible: preserving delicate organic forms within the metal. By seamlessly transitioning from natural elements to metallic structures, her pieces convey movement and transformation, as though nature is evolving into art.
Through her innovative approach and dedication to her craft, Fleur pushes the boundaries of what is possible with pewter. Her work honours the material’s heritage while reimagining its potential, creating timeless pieces that resonate with curiosity, beauty, and connection to the natural world.
