Georgy Metichian was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1967 to an Armenian family. In 1980 he went to the Tbilisi Art School where he specialised in wood technology. In 1982, he was awarded a medal in a prestigious competition in Moscow for excellent craftsmanship in wood-carving. Before moving to London he gained substantial experience with several esteemed restoration firms in Georgia. Since moving to the UK, he has mainly worked with private clients on a range of bespoke commissions. Georgy’s work ranges from mirror and picture frames, large frames for contemporary art and old masters, to finely carved cabinets and intricate bespoke ornaments.
