About

Heather works with felted cloth, a fabric associated with the earliest of protective body coverings and shelters constructed by the nomads of Central Asia.
This fundamental connection with the body is what informs Heather’s work. Whilst incorporating knitting, weave, stitch and the drawn image, Heather explores the felted cloth as skin, as container for the body, a boundary between self and other. There is a sense of duality, as the cloth fragments, unravels and is pieced together as a whole.
Heather has been an exhibiting member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists since 2002. Her work is held in many public collections including the Crafts Council and the Contemporary Textile Collection at Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery.

Heather is one of the guest makers exhibiting with Craft Continuum at the OXO gallery 13 to 17 May.
