About

Holly Dawes is a Hastings-based cross-disciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in natural and found materials, as well as ancient processes that connect her intimately to the landscape. She explores the parallels between the female body and the land, likening the malleability of clay to the strength and softness of flesh. From collecting clay to pit firing, she engages in a slow, meditative approach to making, allowing time and place to shape her work. Through coiling, she embraces a quiet, considered method of building, reflecting cycles of transformation such as softness to hardness, and fluidity to permanence.
