About

Janine is a Bristol based maker working with the traditional materials of vitreous enamel and of leather in fresh, clean and contemporary ways. These two separate strands of her practice take many forms including wall panels and vessels.
More recently Janine has begun to bring these two practices together with works that collage offcuts from her leather panels alongside bespoke enamelled components. Whilst much of Janine’s enamelled work has traditionally been figurative there has been a move towards more abstracted pieces in recent years (alongside her commercial practice).
Janine’s leatherwork is by design stylised but can also range from the more figurative to the abstract depending on the context of the work.
Janine has been a practicing maker for over 20 years starting with enamelling learned at adult education classes and latterly in 2018 undertaking an MA in Design which resulted in her exploration of mark making onto leather and other materials.
Janine has exhibited widely including contemporary craft fairs and galleries across the UK. She has exhibited in the RA Summer Exhibition, RWA Autumn Exhibitions and shown her work at Collect, including a presentation at Collect Open in 2019. She is a member of the British Society of Enamellers, Make Southwest and Design Nation.
Janine has been commissioned to make work for several ships including the Cunard’s Queen Anne as well as for hotels, most recently the art works for the lifts in the new Park Hyatt in China.
