About

Kirsty Adams is award-winning ceramicist who works from her studio in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, producing unique pieces for the home.
Kirsty presents her recent collection of moon jars from her ā€œIcelandic blue moonā€ collection and a new series of large ā€œJurassic Algarveā€ pieces, thrown in white textured porcelain and white textured stoneware clays.
She is pushing her practice to throw at a larger scale and to explore variations of scale within a collection.
A sense of place and provenance is important to her work. The relationship between the form and glaze is integral to each piece. The attention to details on the rims, the textures revealed by the clay and the layers of dipped and poured glazes create an alchemy within the kiln. Each piece retains a sense of its own identity whilst being part of a collection.
The blue moon jars are an exploration of the snow-capped volcanic mountain range surrounding Reykjavik. The large one-off Algarve moon jars and platters use copper greens, cobalt blues, tenmoku and rutile glazes to explore the exquisite colours and tones of the Jurassic limestone caves against the green and turquoise waters of the Algarve.
Kirsty is included in Michelangelo Foundationā€™s globally recognised Homer Faber Guide as a master artisan.
