About
Kyouhong Lee experiments with glass in unexpected ways. He likes to push the boundaries of glass in order to test limitations. At the same time he is interested in traditional Korean everyday objects – from grinding wheels to stones and more. His recent works include experiments that he has conducted by combing casted glass with ott, the sap from the ott tree (lacquer) and gold leaf. The resulting work is a study of mass and volume which can only be achieved by utilizing specific properties in glass.
Kyouhong is constantly conjuring up unexpected techniques in glass. He also excels in stained glass making. Having studied in Scotland to master this skill, he is the only artist who is able to apply this skill in Korea.
Kyouhong has been selected as the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize Finalist for 2023.
