About
Born in Canada, Linda Lencovic lives and works in East Sussex. Based on materiality, her work delves into the complexities of identity, race, and belonging – focusing on fleeting moments where boundaries blur and perceptions begin to shift. The daughter of multi-ethnic immigrants, she draws from experiences of feeling both connected and detached from the world around her, exploring the relationship between self and society and inviting viewers to reflect on their own sense of reality and belonging in an increasingly complex world.
Linda holds a BA in Fine Art from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design with an MA in Fine Art in 2006. Her pieces are held in collections across the UK and abroad, she has exhibited internationally, including group exhibitions at Tate Modern, Whitechapel Gallery, Freud Museum, and Garboushian Gallery. She was shortlisted for the Celeste Art Prize (2007), the Barbican Surreal Competition (2010), and the FRINGEMK Painting Prize (2010).
