About

Loïs is a self-taught ceramic artist whose work explores the enduring connections between ancient ceramic traditions and contemporary making. She is known for her unique stoneware pieces, which frequently combine thrown and sculpted forms, featuring intricate and graphic decoration with playful elements.

In 2023, she won the television competition The Great Pottery Throw Down, gaining recognition for her technical skill, creativity, and distinctive style.

Loïs’s practice is informed by a fascination with the history of ceramics and the ways makers across centuries have used clay to create objects of beauty and meaning. Drawing on these influences, she often looks to historical forms and decorative traditions as starting points for new work.

Loïs is currently developing a body of work inspired by the vibrant ceramic sculptures known as Mexican ‘Trees of Life’, reinterpreting this centuries-old tradition through her own contemporary ceramic language.
