Ma Guibing is an inheritor of Miao silver ornament making, a municipal intangible cultural heritage in Liuzhou, Guangxi. He is the master of arts and crafts in Guangxi. Ma Guibing has been in this field for more than 20 years. Although the creation of Miao silver ornaments is very hard, he still spares no efforts to do it.
For the Miao ethnic minority, silver ornament has become a cultural symbol. Miao girls usually wear silver ornaments during great festivals and occasions. The production process refers to melting, beating, strip pressing, wire drawing, wire braiding, welding and engraving to create an exquisite silver ornament. The craft mainly focuses on wire drawing and braiding, requiring profound skill to braid thin silver wires.
