About
Minnie-Mae is based in the Kent seaside town of Margate, creating and producing ceramics, printed textiles and interior decoration.
British seaside landscapes, the history of London, Greek mythology, Italian kitsch decoration, East End markets and British vegetable growing culture inspire and inform Minnie-Mae’s imagery and exploration of design, resulting in a healthy obsession with columns, peas and seashells. Her hand-crafted ceramics are objects of empowerment, designed to evoke nostalgia and strength, while focusing on classical design.
After graduating from Loughborough in 2011 having studied Printed Textiles, she worked as a studio manager for Cressida Bell, granddaughter of the Bloomsbury group’s Vanessa Bell. Working in a small studio for several years was a brilliant platform for growth, and allowed Minnie-Mae to learn and master her own design skills.
Minnie-Mae then went on to open an art gallery, wine shop & restaurant in Margate: Urchin Wines, which she co-directed with her partner, Orson.
