About

Nicola Tassie originally trained as a painter at the Central School of art and design in London but soon after started working exclusively in ceramics. Her work encompasses both functional and sculptural pieces, reflecting a deep engagement with materiality and form. She often explores the boundaries between utility and aesthetics creating pieces that challenge traditional notions of domestic objects.

Her works have been exhibited in the UK, Paris, Canada and in the USA where she is represented by Hostler Burrows gallery. She was shortlisted for Award 2023 at British Ceramics Biennial in Stoke on Trent and has exhibited internationally at Art and Design Fairs; London Art Fair; Fog in San Francisco; Collect 2023, 2024, London; Art Toronto 25, Canada. Public commissions include a ceramic installation at the original Edinburg Maggie Cancer Care centre. Her work is shown at 8 Holland Street in the UK.

The Hearth, exhibited at 8 HOLLAND STREET | SOUTH OF THE RIVER, a special location for London Craft Week 2026 and running until 13 June, presents a group of ceramic works that explore the conceptual and material richness of pots in the domestic arena and their role in sustaining the rituals and bonds of social life. Shown alongside other sculptural work showcasing Nicola’s study of texture, line & form, the exhibition alludes to both the domestic and the minimal.
