About

A London-based ceramic artist, Nicola Tassie works across functional and sculptural forms, exploring the expressive possibilities of clay. After initially studying painting at the Central School of Art, she established her ceramics studio in Hoxton in the 1980s and has since developed a distinctive practice that ranges from wheel-thrown editions of functional vessels, particularly jugs, to more sculptural works that expand the language of ceramic form.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the London Art Fair, Collect: International Art Fair for Contemporary Craft and Design, and the Fog Design Fair in San Francisco. Tassie has also collaborated with designer Margaret Howell on limited-edition tableware and lighting. She continues to work from her studio in east London.
