About
Rie Taniguchi is a Japanese-born maker trained and based in the UK, creating both wearable and sculptural objects. Her practice focuses on life forms, particularly endangered, misunderstood and underappreciated species, drawing attention to their complexity and beauty. Working from photographs, film and observation, she develops designs that balance accuracy with imagination. Primarily using silver, Rie employs techniques such as raising, press forming, carving and enamelling. She often presents her work in groups, encouraging viewers to contemplate and reflect, guided by the belief: “Spread awareness one person at a time.”
A graduate of London Guildhall University, she has exhibited at Goldsmiths’ Fair since 2007 and was awarded first prize at the Lapponia Art Jewellery Competition in Finland.
Exhibiting at FORGE as part of The Secret Garden Showcase, 1 May – 1 June.
