About

Rosa is a brush and broom maker living in wild West Wales. Working with natural, sustainable materials is really important to her and she is inspired to make pieces that are beautiful as well as useful. Previously she’s experimented with carving wooden spoons, turning bowls on a traditional pole lathe and weaving baskets, but this is the craft that seems to have stuck!

All of her brushes and brooms are made by Rosa herself, entirely by hand. The only mechanised tool that she uses is an electric chainsaw which is used for cutting wood for broom handles from her small patch of woodland.

She was selected as a TOAST New Maker 2022.

Her plans for the future include experimenting with natural dyeing so she can incorporate this into her practice, and growing her own broomcorn.

Making tangible, useful things helps Rosa to feel grounded. When she’s not crafting, you can find her growing vegetables on a windy hillside, walking in the woods, or renovating her nearly 200 year-old house.
