Sam Lucas, is British artist in clay whose research and practice is “bringing a distinctive take on models of communication: Same Same but Different, is a practice-based exploration into neurodiversity concentrating on the neurodivergent lived experience and the importance of creativity especially through clay in managing and communicating personal experience”.   Dr Natasha Mayo 

Sam creates ambiguous figurative objects, predominantly in clay which are more about the experience of being, rather than being seen. She gained a distinction in MA ceramics in 2018 and in 2020 exhibited at Art Geneve with Taste Contemporary gallery. The following year, was awarded a fully funded AHRC NBC practice-based PhD in ceramics at the University of Sunderland, focussing on neurodiversity, embodiment and creativity in clay. her work has been featured in numerous printed magazines and a chapter in Contemporary British Ceramics: Beneath the Surface by Ashley Thorpe. Some of her highlights were being selected for AWARD the headlining exhibition at the British Ceramics Biennial 2019 & Crafts Council Hothouse Development Programme in 2020.
