About
Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, Stuart lives and works in London. His interest in ceramics began at fourteen and developed through school, a BA at the Glasgow School of Art and an MA at the Royal College of Art.
He gained international recognition with a tableware collection launched on graduating, earning two Designer of the Year awards and collaborations with Conran, John Lewis, Calvin Klein and Goop. He founded the UK’s first open-access ceramics studios and now co-leads The Kiln Rooms in London, a model that has influenced a number of similar spaces nationwide.
Stuart is an associate lecturer at Central Saint Martins, a senior consultant on Channel 4’s The Great Pottery Throw Down and an on-screen mentor for the BBC’s Make It at Market. He is also the author of From Clay to Kiln. His latest body of work, Return to Form, marks a new chapter in his practice.
