About
Original forms seen in the Tracey Neuls footwear collections are crafted by Neuls herself, a practice that enhances the atelier quality, craftsmanship, and individuality often overlooked in the fashion industry. Conceived in London, Neuls launched her brand in 2000, presenting confident silhouettes that embody timelessness and an authentic design ethos grounded in her deep knowledge of the craft. To date, she has created over 50 iconic collections and is celebrated as a leading expert in footwear. This year, we commemorate her 25th Anniversary, a significant milestone in her career.
Emotional connectivity to her footwear is as vital as its visual appeal and comfort. Neuls emphasises the importance of handcrafting her shoes, believing that this method fuels innovation and originality in design. Her creative process begins with moulding plasticine, a material that evokes child-like innocence and allows inspiration to flow from her heart into her hands.
Neulsâ inspirations are personal, conceptual, and not dictated by current trends. A crucial part of her design practice lies in the simple act of observation. By paying attention to the nuances of the foot, she identified a curved void on the top, leading to the creation of her signature circle detail. This attention to graphic lines and silhouettes, gives rise to designs like DOT, showcasing simplicity that often goes unnoticed. Traceyâs first collection was inspired by the outline of the big toe and foot, which reminds us of the hidden body parts within our footwear. This inaugural collection remains relevant today and will be reintroduced as part of her 25th Anniversary celebrations.
â When inspiration comes from a point of feeling, the designs have a timelessness to them,â says Neuls.
Recognised as an instant talent while studying at Cordwainer’s College, Tracey received awards from the prestigious RSA, the New Generation Award and showed her work at the Barcelona Museum of Modern Art. Listed in âTime Outâs 50 Best London Shopsâ she was voted as one of the âTop Ten Creatives in Londonâ. Tracey Neuls was also nominated by the London Design Museum for âDesigns of the Year Award 2014â for her innovative reflective collection.
