About

Based at Wasps’ Studios in Glasgow, Hong Kong-born artist Viv Lee makes sculptural ceramics inspired by memories, mythology and the raw elemental beauty of her adopted homeland Scotland.

The natural environment provides a rich resource for her works, influencing the colours, textures and materials used. Works are finished in earthy tones, often using experimental glazes made with natural materials, slips and engobes created from native clays foraged from the landscape, or they are left unglazed to show the body of the clay.

As an alumnus of Toast New Maker’s programme in 2020, Viv’s ceramics have appeared in wallpaper, Homes & Gardens UK, Elle Decoration, Harper’s Bazaar, Homes & Interiors Scotland, the World of Interiors, Vogue, and WSJ Magazine. Graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2017 with first-class honours in sculpture, Viv is represented by M.A.H. Gallery, the New Craft Maker and Bard in the UK, and Volume Ceramics in France.
