Wanyan Wu is a Chinese jewellery designer who graduated from the Birmingham School of Jewellery in 2023 with a major in Jewellery and Related Products. Her work primarily focuses on narrative jewellery, incorporating 3D modeling, enameling, and lampworking techniques. She is passionate about exploring innovative approaches that bridge traditional craftsmanship with modern industry techniques.
“Candy Boxes” is inspired by Wanyan’s childhood memories of sweets— the joy they brought and the pain of tooth decay. Using candy elements like gummy bears, the piece evokes nostalgia. Based on the concept of Pic ‘N’ Mix, it invites audience interaction, allowing them to choose different boxes, candies and materials. Each candy gem, meticulously crafted by Wanyan, is set in a silver box to store memories like treasures.
