About

WAX Atelier is a London-based studio founded in 2017 by designer and artist Lola Lely. Specialising in handcrafted wax products, beeswax candles, and experimental design, the studio explores the material’s transformative potential through scent, texture, and form. With a deep respect for traditional craft, WAX Atelier reinterprets age-old techniques in contemporary ways, pushing the boundaries of chandlery, sculpture, and surface design.

Sustainability is at the heart of their practice. Each piece is handmade in small batches using locally sourced beeswax, plant-based dyes, and low-impact processes. The studio embraces wax’s circular nature—an endlessly reusable and biodegradable material—allowing for continuous reinvention through melting, moulding, and reshaping. This commitment to material integrity and innovation has led to collaborations and commissions for renowned galleries, museums, and brands, including the Royal Academy of Arts, V&A Museum, The Design Museum, Burberry, JW Anderson and John Smedley.

WAX Atelier’s work has been exhibited internationally, bridging the worlds of art, craft, and design. Their distinctive approach blends tradition with experimentation, resulting in objects that are both functional and poetic. Whether creating sculptural candles, delicate wax textiles, or site-specific installations, their work evokes the sensory richness of wax—its warmth, scent, and luminous quality.

Beyond their studio practice, WAX Atelier shares their knowledge through workshops, installations, and collaborative projects, fostering a deeper appreciation for the craft of wax-making. By combining artistry, sustainability, and innovation, they continue to redefine wax as a dynamic medium for contemporary design.
