About
The exhibition Material as a Carrier of Time is a solo presentation by Xiangzhi Zhao. Born in 2002, Xiangzhi Zhao graduated from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the Royal College of Art, London.
Xiangzhi Zhao’s research is grounded in interdisciplinary practices of craft and design, with a particular focus on the interrelations between material culture, making technologies, and historical contexts, and how these elements collectively inform speculative design approaches oriented toward the near future. Within his creative and research practice, design is understood as a culturally situated language and a critical medium that operates across disciplinary boundaries, engaging with the complex dialogues surrounding contemporary technological transformation and social contexts.
