Savile Row Women’s Tailoring with Banshee of Savile Row
Banshee founders Ruby Slevin and Rocco Tullio host a demonstration on how to create a women’s Savile Row suit from start to finish. Bespoke tailoring for women is on the increase, but is still quite a new concept for many – this demonstration gives a bird’s-eye view of the processes involved.
About
Banshee founders Ruby Slevin and Rocco Tullio host a demonstration on how to create a woman’s Savile Row suit from start to finish. Bespoke tailoring for women is on the increase, but is still quite a new concept for many – this demonstration gives a bird’s-eye view of the processes involved.
Ruby and Rocco begin by showing the natural heritage fabrics they use from the best mills across Europe, that are crafted to last. They then demonstrate how the design and measurement process works from start to finish, followed by a discussion on getting the right fit, which can so often be a challenge for women when buying off the peg. All women are unique in both aesthetic and body shape and getting the fit right can make all the difference – most people don’t follow trends in what trouser shape they like to wear, for instance.
They also demonstrate how to pin a garment to get a better fit, which is something sustainable we can do to improve and refresh our existing wardrobes.
The demonstration is followed by a talk on the sustainable construction of Savile Row womenswear and how this craft works in an ethical context.
