About
Visit Salvatore Ferragamo’s Old Bond Street store for a special demonstration by one of their artisans on the key stages of crafting a Ferragamo Tramezza handmade shoe. Accompanied by a selection of Tuscan wines.
The Tramezza construction shoe is the most exclusive segment of Salvatore Ferragamo men’s footwear. Prestige detailing, clean lines, quality materials and comfortable fit are the hallmarks of all Ferragamo shoes, but they approach the sublime with the Tramezza handmade technique. An equilibrium between innovation and craftsmanship, the study of aesthetics and contemporary design, clean-cut lines and attention to detail all contribute to producing an individual shoe where no two pairs are ever alike.
The construction of each single Tramezza consists of 160 steps of precise workmanship. Craftsmanship is integral to the values of Ferragamo and guides each and every stage of production, from the treatment of leather with water and alcohol, to the production of the upper, shaping on the last and the finishing. The defining feature of Tramezza is the thick yet flexible layer of leather used instead of the widespread cork, which is skilfully sandwiched between the insole and the sole like a cushion. Tramezza, Italian for ‘something in the middle’, is the name aptly given to this additional sole. Come to discover the Ferragamo world.
