About
Cut by hand from the finest calfskins, Edward Green shoes represent the pinnacle of Northampton’s shoemaking tradition. Their signature Dover style is hand sewn with a boar bristle, requiring both technical skill and great patience.
For this London Craft Week event, a hand-sewer demonstrates their craft and answers questions on Northampton shoemaking. In the afternoon, all participating brands sit down to discuss craftsmanship in the UK.
Edward Green established his workshop in Northampton in 1890, drawing together a team of the most illustrious craftsmen and sourcing the best materials for them to work with. ‘Excellence without compromise’ was his promise, and soon his name became associated with the finest Goodyear welted footwear, chosen by style icons from Ernest Hemingway to Edward, Duke of Windsor.
These men and many others like them epitomise what Edward Green shoes represent: elegant, quintessentially English footwear worn by gentlemen of distinction, charm and wit. Men who understand the value of tradition yet thrive on a sense of adventure.
Today, the brand continues to strive to make the best shoes possible, refining and improving their process, but always taking the time to ensure each pair of shoes is fit to bear its founder’s name and dress another generation of men who truly appreciate the difference.
