Anatomical Series: Coade for Jamb

Jamb has collaborated with Coade, commissioning them to make a series of anatomical sculptural studies inspired by masters of the Renaissance. Coade’s workshop has rediscovered the recipe of a type of English terracotta, formulated by Eleanor Coade in the 18th century, used as sculptural medium to be free modelled and cast, then fired to a high temperature.

About

Jamb has collaborated with Coade, commissioning them to make a series of anatomical sculptural studies inspired by masters of the Renaissance. Coade’s workshop has rediscovered the recipe of a type of English terracotta, formulated by Eleanor Coade in the 18th century, used as sculptural medium to be free modelled and cast, then fired to a high temperature. The works are designed as if they reveal themselves breaking out from behind the wall that holds them. Coade stone’s natural soft buff tone is the ideal medium to capture the detail of the human form.
