Fine Art and Craft Collide: Lalique in Conversation with Nic Fiddian-Green

French crystal house Lalique has collaborated with artists, architects and designers such as Damien Hirst, Zaha Hadid, Pierre Yves-Rochon and Mario Botta. Its latest collaboration with British artist Nic Fiddian-Green marries ancient crystal-making techniques with fine art. What can the two disciplines learn from each other? A conversation hosted by Country Life interiors editor Giles Kime.

About

Unfortunately this event has been cancelled

The British artist Nic Fiddian-Green is a master of the depiction of horse’s heads. He shares this love of nature with Lalique. In the digital age, abounding with new technologies, he also works like Lalique, using age-old techniques.

A jeweller by profession, Rene Lalique would surely have been proud today to see the wonderful Lalique crystal equestrian statue, Still Water, created by sculptor Nic Fiddian-Green, become part of the heritage of the company he founded.

On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Lalique factory in Alsace, Nic Fiddian-Green and Frederick Fischer, Lalique managing director UK, talk about how fine art and craft are intertwined. The talk is hosted by Giles Kime, interiors editor at Country Life magazine. Giles is a former editor of Decanter magazine and author of various books on decorating and wine.
