Elicyon presents ‘The Contemporary Tapestry’, a panel discussion bringing together maker, curator and designer. Panellists include Geraldine Larkin, Bernie de Le Cuona, Miles de Lange and Elicyon founder Charu Gandhi, hosted by design expert Tony Chambers.

About

‘The Contemporary Tapestry’ is a panel discussion bringing together maker, curator and designer. Panellists include Charu Gandhi, founder of interior design studio Elicyon, embroiderer Geraldine Larkin, fabric extraordinaire Bernie de Le Cuona, and furniture, decorative arts and fabric agent Miles de Lange. Design expert and former Wallpaper* Editor-in-Chief Tony Chambers hosts.

This year, Elicyon celebrates its seventh successful year, with projects spanning the globe. Chelsea Barracks in Belgravia has been one of the studio’s most prominent projects in recent years, where the team has designed three eclectic show apartments for the development and a number of private residences: a fitting venue therefore for this design discussion.

Joining Charu is panellist Geraldine Larkin, who created a vast decorative tapestry that hangs in the Chelsea Barracks residential lobby. Bernie de Le Cuona, founder of de Le Cuona and named last year as one of the 50 Most Influential People in British Luxury, dressed a number of the Belgravia residences with their African-inspired linen throws. Miles de Lange was responsible for the Soir de lune fabric range, used to cover furniture found across the interior spaces of the former Army Barracks. Tony Chambers, ‘one of the most influential arbiters of taste in the design world’, according to The Telegraph, needs no introduction.

With a shared passion for tapestry and craft, the panel discusses what contemporary tapestry looks like in interior schemes today, how it straddles craft and art, why fabric can be considered ‘liveable’ tapestry and the delicate process from artisan to abode.
