Luxury British Craftsmanship Pavilion: Winch Design – Superyachts, Private Jets and Architecture: Craftsmanship and Design at the Highest Level
Winch Design is a studio specialising in the design of superyachts, jets and private homes. Go behind the scenes, hear from the Winch team about what it takes to design for UHNWIs and meet the talented craftspeople working on these unique projects.
About
Since its inception in 1986, Winch Design has become known as the ‘go-to’ studio for billionaires wishing to commission their dream home: on land, in the air and at sea. Initially specialising as a sailing yacht design studio, Winch Design now encompasses aviation and architectural design in addition to superyachts and sailing yachts. Winch has delivered the largest superyacht in the world, the biggest private jet to hit the skies and the largest private residence in London – and the studio shows no sign of slowing down.
Each project is as unique as the clients themselves, and behind closed doors, talented craftspeople bring the stories of the clients and their homes to life in exquisite detail. The world of bespoke top-end design is often discreet and elite, and Winch is pleased to open the doors and give an insight into what craftsmanship is like in a design-world where every stitch matters.
Situated in the exquisitely crafted British Luxury Craft Pavilion at Chelsea Barracks’ Garrison Suite, meet wood carvers, furniture makers, embroiderers, ceramicists and textile designers who have helped create some of Winch’s most iconic projects. Learn about their craft and gain an insight into what it takes to create work for such discerning clients. At 3pm, join founder Andrew Winch in conversation with the makers. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the ocean conservation charity, The Blue Marine Foundation (bluemarinefoundation.com).
In 2020, these artisans were invited to join Under Winch’s Wing, an initiative designed to support valued independent makers and craftspeople throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
