About
Get a glimpse into the craftsmanship and care that goes into Globe-Trotter’s cases. Factory manager James Fisher gives a talk outlining the production process and history of one of the last British heritage brands with products handmade in the UK.
Established in 1897, Globe-Trotter’s cases are synonymous with the golden age of travel. To this day, the shape and style of many of their products remains unchanged. Production still takes place by hand in England. They apply the same attention to detail, using some of the same production methods and machinery of the Victorian era. Perhaps Globe-Trotter’s most timeless and enduring innovation is Vulcanised Fibreboard. An unfathomable feat of strength that is yet to be imitated successfully, it has kept the brand’s cases incredibly strong but lightweight for 125 years and counting.
