BOOKING INFORMATION
The Invisible Made Visible explores hidden processes, material memory, and the quiet gestures behind contemporary craft. Curated by Blackdot Gallery, the exhibition brings together diverse practices that reveal how making carries personal stories, time, and human connection.
About
The Invisible Made Visible is a curated exhibition presented by Blackdot Gallery as part of London Craft Week 2026.
The exhibition examines the emotional and narrative capacity of materials, inviting visitors to consider not only the completed object but also the processes that shape it. Craft is formed through time, repetition, and touch. Much of this labour remains unseen. The Invisible Made Visible brings these concealed dimensions into view, revealing how works of craft embody memory, care, and personal history.
The exhibition brings together an international group of artists and makers working across jewellery and metalwork, textiles, ceramics, glass, wood, paper, mixed media, and experimental practices. Participating artists include Alejandra Hermida, Alice Liptrot, Ayaito Marron, Barbara Stelmachowska, Cement Blanche, Chaeeun, Cindy Liu, e.L.s designs, Elizabeth Benson, Eniko Czigany, Eunsol Kim, Evyn Gensurowsky, Fumika Tani, Giacomo Bevanati, Hannah Norris, Harshena Kapoor, Irene Huang, Jacob Walls, Jianqiang Xia, Kai Hsuan Chang, Kinga Olah, Lena Heinrich, Magdalena Lysiak, Nao Nagamura, Neve Beill, Riolab Ceramics, Rosie May, Ryan Tepper, Seungjoo Mun, Severina Seidl, Shane, Shivangi Vasudeva, Theophane Ingold, THIS IS OINK, Timothy Davis, Verona Shi, What’s Wrong Duo, Xin Yue, Xinchen Li, Yahvi Duggal, Yiwei Huang, and Yuze Pan.
Some works engage with longstanding craft traditions, while others investigate contemporary processes and material experimentation. Together, they reflect an evolving dialogue between maker and material, where discipline, sensitivity, and inquiry shape form.
Six awards will be presented as part of the exhibition: the Material Narrative Award and the Crafted Soul Award, both developed in partnership with Art and Materials Lab; the Rising Star Jewellery Award in partnership with AUTOR; the Invisible Labour Award; the Unconventional Practice Award; and the Curator’s Choice Award. These recognitions acknowledge excellence in material exploration, emerging practice, and conceptual rigour within contemporary craft.
Through considered curatorial framing, the exhibition offers space for reflection on how material practice informs our understanding of time, place, and human connection.
