Sophie Wilson is the founder of 1690 Ceramics, a Dorset-based studio creating handcrafted ceramic pieces for the home. What began as a small shop in her family home has grown into a dedicated ceramics practice, with Wilson developing her work from a studio and kiln installed in the outbuildings of her house in the Dorset countryside.
Working primarily with clay, she creates functional objects that combine practicality with character and charm. Her ceramics are inspired by the rhythms of domestic life and the belief that the home is one of our most creative spaces.
Today, 1690 Ceramics produces a distinctive collection of handmade pieces stocked by select shops and galleries internationally.
