About
Venture out to London W6, minutes from Ravenscourt Park Station, where the mysterious activities of 4160Tuesdays perfumery hide behind a large black door, identified only by the brass lettering: 42A, and for this week only, a London Craft Week street sign.
4160Tuesdays took part in the first London Craft Week, with an event in Fenwick of Bond Street. Since then, they have invited visitors to their studio to the mothership itself. It’s small, eccentric and appears rather chaotic, rather like Sarah herself, until you understand that everything has its place, even if nowhere else knows where that might be.
The 4160Tuesdays team will invite you to make your own fragrance by customising one of our biodegradable fragrance bases: Soft Musks, Amber Woods or Clean Hippie. All the blends you’ll use are made with organic grain ethanol.
You will be able to choose from a range of natural materials and while biotech molecules, including Bulgarian linden blossom, Dreamwood, upcycled rose absolute and cacao extract, Fleur de Cuir – a plant-based leather material, vanillin made from pine wood and more. Visitors will be guided by our perfumer Sarah McCartney, and assistant perfumers Nicholas Field and John Kempton.
4160Tuesday’s own collection of fragrances will be available for visitors to try and buy, including Vianne’s Confession, a cacao chypre made with author Joanne Harris, calming London Linden, award winning No Mow May and best-selling Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits.
The studio will be open:
12 noon – 7 pm Monday 11 May & Wednesday 13 May
12 noon – 6 pm Tuesday 12 May & Thursday 14 May
Tickets are £30 per person, and include a 7.5ml vial of your own fragrance. If you decide that your fragrance is so lovely that you need a larger bottle, you will be able to upgrade it on the day, and to reorder it in future, as long as you keep a record of your blend.
Allow an hour for the experience; you are welcome to stay longer and smell the collection of materials and finished fragrances. Note: Age 15+ for reasons of public liability insurance.
