About
Deborah Carré is an internationally renowned cordwainer whose transition from a career in marketing to master shoemaking has left an indelible mark on British craft. Her journey began when a QEST scholarship enabled her to train under master shoemaker Paul Wilson in London. It was during this formative apprenticeship that she met her future business partner, James Ducker.
After years of working independently, Carré and Ducker reunited in 2004 to establish Carréducker. The London-based brand quickly built a global reputation for its exceptional bespoke footwear. By seamlessly marrying the highly skilled handsewn craft with the finest traditions of British manufacturing, Carré offers customers a complete wardrobe of footwear spanning from elegant dress shoes to casual sneakers. Every pair is defined by a meticulous focus on personal style, precise fit, considered detailing and a distinctive use of colour.
Driven by a passion to safeguard and share their expertise, Carré and Ducker began teaching handsewn shoemaking in 2006. Their school has since become a vital launchpad for aspiring artisans. Offering intensive 12-day courses alongside popular evening classes, the school has opened the craft to new audiences and trained hundreds of students.
