Bally Art Haus presents an exhibit of sculptural pieces by London-based artist and designer, Zuza Mengham.

Rooted in a preoccupation with abstracted form, materials and their stories, Zuza Mengham’s work explores the connection between traditional crafts and new methods of making, reflecting Bally’s longstanding commitment to craftsmanship and design innovation. The exhibit is the first in the Bally Art Haus series, providing a platform for local artistic talent.

Tying together soft layers of colour, the work draws upon the Alpine landscapes where Bally’s heritage is rooted. Overlapping, merging and marbling textures mimic the formation of landscape, suggesting the pressure from earth and rock, while also tying in with a grassy woodland base. The elevation of the sculpture peaks with soft interweavings of crisp blue, merging and unfolding to evoke the landscape reaching the sky and snowy summits. The use of granulated marble as an aggregate within the casting process creates subtle refractions of light across the surface of the sculpture. This use of material serves to mirror its natural inspiration and heightens the sensitivity to light informing its Alpine influence.
