About

Silverlining is a British furniture maker working at the nexus of design, craft and technology.

The Innovation in Craft exhibition showcases Silverlining’s latest progressive ideas, craftsmanship and finishes in furniture through hand sketches and jewel-like material and finish samples. Their recent ‘Provenance’ collection and new ‘Enriched Sensibilities’ collection are displayed.

The ‘Provenance’ collection illustrates the start of a journey, a client’s vision made real, the story of a maker’s craft and the inspiration behind the designer’s thinking and the discovery of unique materials. ‘Enriched Sensibilities’ is a study of how furniture can enrich our lives emotionally, aesthetically, morally and physically.

The exhibition and demonstrations during the week illustrate the very best of contemporary British craftsmanship and show Silverlining’s legacy in defining what 21st-century furniture making is today. As part of their exhibition, demonstrations show how leatherwork (Tuesday 5 October), marquetry (Wednesday 6 October) and carving (Thursday 7 October) are advanced by combining traditional skills with the latest materials, science and technology.

Demonstrations are free but places are limited, so please book a place to avoid disappointment.
