Designer Bookbinders presents a day of creative, practical bookbinding workshops suitable for all abilities. Whether you are an artist, writer, or simply a lover of beautiful books, come and learn this exciting and creative craft.

These workshops, led by Fellows of Designer Bookbinders, introduce students to the skills, techniques, and materials used in basic bookbinding. All materials and tools are provided. More information is available on the Designer Bookbinders website.

Two Concertina Bindings with Midori Kunikata-Cockram
This workshop introduces two ways of making concertina books with hard covered boards. The first book is made without any adhesive, even for covering the boards. The second book is ideal for displaying and presenting your art work.

Hard Cover Sketchbook with Rachel Ward-Sale
Using traditional techniques and tools, learn to make a hard cover sketchbook, covered with beautiful hand-marbled paper and a choice of colourful book cloth. Discover how to select and prepare materials, fold and sew pages and attach a hard cover.

Taking place on Saturday 14 May from 10.30am – 1pm. £68 per ticket.

Soft Slip Case with Kaori Maki
A perfect way to store and protect your favourite books and pamphlets. Make a decorative, bespoke soft slip case using folding, cutting, and gluing techniques. Bring your own small book or make one yourself in one of the morning classes.

Taking place on Saturday 14 May from 2.30pm – 5pm. £55 per ticket.

Soft Leather Journal with Rachel Ward-Sale
A great accessory for writers, artists, or anyone who wants to keep stylish notes. During this practical workshop, learn to prepare and cut a soft leather cover, fold and sew in pages and attach a fastening strap.
