About
Join Meisterstrasse for a champagne reception and a premiere concert of world-famous Viennese piano manufacturer Bösendorfer at the Austrian Embassy in London.
For this special event, the famous Austrian piano manufacturer Bösendorfer in collaboration with Coach House Pianos London is providing an exceptional limited-edition instrument to be seen for the first time in London. Using sophisticated reprographic techniques, the high-resolution image of the original Klimt painting is transferred on the inside of the Bösendorfer 214VC Grand Piano lid and has been intricately handgilded in the finest 23 carat gold leaf.
‘Klimt Meets Bösendorfer – The Tree of Life’ is a concept of solo piano pieces, Gustav Klimt’s favorite songs, poetry recitals and an exquisite limited edition Bösendorfer piano, presented in London for the first time. Created by international pianist and Bösendorfer Artist Alexandra Silocea, the event is inspired by the multifaceted symbol of the tree of life.
Premiered at the Vienna’s Kunsthistorisches Museum on Gustav Klimt’s 160th birthday last year, the highlights of the music programme include some of Klimt’s favourite songs by Schubert, such as ‘The Linden Tree’ (Der Lindenbaum) and ‘Serenade’ (Ständchen) performed by pianist Alexandra Silocea and mezzo soprano Kate Lindsey, as well as solo piano pieces by L. Janacek, C. Debussy, F. Liszt and two contemporary composers: Fazil Say and Martin Romberg.
The poetry, narrated by Vikki Stone, includes interludes with poems by J. Joyce, A.E. Housman, R. Frost, K. Gibran and others.
