About

Alessandra Taccia is an artist based in Cambridge. She graduated in Fine Arts (painting) at Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti in Genova, Italy. Drawn to history and ancient artifacts, particularly those from the Mediterranean and the Far East, she incorporates Zen philosophy and Theosophy into her practice, focusing on Still Life. Taccia believes in finding beauty in the mundane and serenity in the contemplative state that can be experienced in daily life’s chores.

Working intuitively, she manipulates media to create an appearance of weathering due to the passage of time, deliberately distressing the material until it breaks. Taccia likes to leave traces of the process; imperfections are intentional, and she often includes the accidental, believing this gives life (or a soul, if you will) to an object.
