About

Mella Shaw is a contemporary ceramic artist using clay to make objects and site-specific installations centred around themes of balance, tipping points, thresholds and edges. Shaw’s recent work is a powerful large scale ceramic installation titled ‘Sounding Line’, addressing the devastating effect of marine sonar on whales and other cetaceans.

She studied for a BA in Anthropology at Durham University. After working in the museum sector, Mella went on to do an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art.
