About

Ruth King trained at Camberwell School of Art in the 1970’s then worked in London for several years before moving first to York and then to her current studio in North Yorkshire. A Fellow and previous council member/Vice Chair of the Craft Potters Association she has  exhibited widely and is represented in many collections both public and private, internationally and in the UK.

Her pots are composed from modified and intensively worked parts.  Hand-built from soft sheets of stoneware clay that are cut and assembled to wrap and clothe space they are enriched by the passage of salt vapours that react to each twist and turn of the form adding colour, texture and articulation.
