About

Working predominantly in clay and on paper, Sarah Purvey explores an intensely physical relationship with drawing throughout her practice.  Working across mediums and flowing between two and three dimensions, Purveys intuitive approach to mark and form draws upon a very personal exploration of belonging. The resulting process embodies both the darkness and light of complex emotional engagements, at times exposing, always candid, interrogating boundaries whilst searching for balance.

Purvey’s work on paper and ceramic have been acquired by museum collections and private collectors both nationally and internationally including Pallant House Gallery Chichester, Swindon Museum, Bath Spa University Collection and Chippenham Museum in Wiltshire.

Purvey currently holds the position of Artist in Residence at Bath Spa University’s Corsham Court Campus.
