The Art of Making at the Art Workers’ Guild
In their historically rich building, Art Workers’ Guild makers showcase a range of craft disciplines, from leatherworking and printmaking to sculpting, demonstrating the specialist skills involved. The event includes an exhibition of work, demonstrations and a series of talks.
About
During London Craft Week, the Art Workers’ Guild will showcase the wide range of craft disciplines represented by their members with a series of talks, demonstrations and an exhibition.
Visit their historically rich building to gain insights into the specialist skills involved in print-making, leatherwork, intricate small-scale textiles, ceramics, jewellery and much more. The exhibition, which is free to enter, includes over fifteen artists and makers, who will be showing, demonstrating and selling their work.
The many talks – all given by Art Workers’ Guild members – will take place over the two days and are £5 each.
Join architectural historian Alan Powers for a tour of the Grade ll* Georgian townhouse which is home to the Art Workers’ Guild. Tours are £5 and booking is essential.

The Art Workers’ Guild is a body of more than 400 artists, craftspeople and architects working at the highest levels of excellence in their professions. Founded in 1884 by young architects and designers, its principle of ‘learning by doing’ has spread through art education and has had a worldwide influence. A respect for quality, for craftsmanship, for the work of the hand, and a recognition of the healing, humane value of craftsmanship still characterise the Guild.
