Deptford Foundry Open Studios
The Deptford Foundry was the largest ‘new build’ studio site to open within zone two in over a decade. Now in its fourth operational year, a vibrant community of visual artists has formed within the 85 studios. A chance to explore the work of SFSA’s emerging and established practitioners.
About
London has lost 50% of its affordable workspace over the last decade, especially space allocated for craft and designer makers. Second Floor Studios & Arts is stemming the loss through pioneering delivery of an asset-led acquisition programme, protecting workspace for the next six generations. The Deptford Foundry is the first flagship acquisition for SFSA and two further sites are planned: 30 studios in north-west London and a dedicated, three-floor, maker-focused studio building in Purfleet as part of High House Production Park, with prestigious neighbours such as the Royal Opera House and Backstage Centre.
2022 is SFSA’s 25th operational year and they invite everyone to come to the Foundry on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May to take part in the highlight of their annual programming – Open Studios weekend. Meet and celebrate SFSA’s membership at varying stages of their careers from all visual arts disciplines showcasing their work.
