About
The name Fabal is derived from the Latin word ‘Faber’, meaning ‘the human being as the maker or creator – a craftsperson or artisan’.
Join Fabal in their Taproom on the Bermondsey Beer Mile to celebrate London Craft Week by hosting Artist, Calligrapher and Letter Carver, Louise Tiplady for a day of live stone carving demonstrations. You will also have the opportunity to try stone carving yourself, sample some of Fabal’s award winning lager, and understand more about the craft of brewing from Fabal’s own Maltsters. No need to book, just drop-in.
In seeking to create the ultimate, artisanal, English lager, Fabal uses an innovative blend of pressed and malted barleys for a delicate balance of malt sweetness and malt dryness. Their classic English lager is all about luxury that doesn’t cost the earth. Embedded in the fabric of everything they do is the traditional makers’ ethos of ‘do it once and do it well’.
That means that while Fabal never scrimp on the quality of their ingredients, they respect the environment and through recycling, repurposing and mindful sourcing, produce their beers sustainably. Fabal is created in its totality from only English ingredients and suppliers, including Archer hops from Worcestershire, malted barley from the Warminster Malt Loft and pressed barley and glass from Yorkshire.
The Lettering Arts Trust is the UK’s leading voice for promoting the art of lettering to public and professional audiences. It champions excellence in the artforms of calligraphy, letterpress, etching and letter design and letter cutting by fostering talent, extending knowledge and facilitating new works. It brings the finest artists and the public together through exhibitions and events, original commissions and informal workshops. Its charitable purpose is to sustain the precious heritage craft of letter design and carving via formal apprenticeship, bursary and journeymen schemes that secure these skills for future generations.
