Writing with a quill on vellum (calfskin) is a heritage craft that has been practised by scribes for centuries. Spend the day learning how to write Gothic Black Letter from mediaeval times, then cut a quill from a feather from a swan’s wing, and finally write a name with the quill on a piece of vellum that you have prepared yourself.

This one-day course is taught by world-renowned professional calligraphy and illuminator Patricia Lovett MBE, and is open to beginners and improvers of calligraphy.
