About

“The Story of Stone” begins with Quanzhou, located in Southeast China and widely known as the country’s world intangible cultural heritage city. As the “starting point of the ancient maritime Silk Road”, this ancient city that grew from the sea is closely connected with the ocean and nurtures a unique maritime culture and local craft traditions.

“The Story of Stone” is an exhibition showcasing Quanzhou’s extraordinary craft traditions and exciting craftspeople working today. Starting from the evolution of a stone, it explores the historical and cultural memories and craft traditions of the heritage city and examines the medium of stone and the possibility of sustainable life in the future.
