About

As a member of the last generation with vivid memories of Poland’s post-communist era and its transformative conclusion, Aneta has been profoundly influenced by the period of transition and contrast. This formative experience has instilled in her a resolute determination to transcend boundaries, coupled with a discernibly rebellious spirit. Driven by an insatiable curiosity and a fervent desire to explore the inherent limits of her being and the materials with which she works, particularly clay, Aneta creates works of art that serve as profound reflections of her experiences and insights.

Utilising a meticulous technique that involves multiple layers of the same elements in various states, Aneta meticulously crafts pieces that undergo repeated cycles of drying and re-firing. This process not only embodies a narrative of perpetual metamorphosis, conflict, and change but also serves to underscore the remarkable capacity of the materials for modification. In doing so, she prompts contemplation not only of human ontology but also of the intricacies of interpersonal dynamics and our evolving relationship with objects.

Having spent 17 years immersed in the dynamic cultural milieu of London, Aneta has been deeply influenced by the city’s vibrant multicultural tapestry. This influence is palpable in her work, which has evolved into an eclectic fusion of elements, emblematic of the intersection between past experiences and present realities, as well as Western and Eastern cultural influences.

Education has been a cornerstone of Aneta’s’ artistic journey, encompassing study in both Gdansk and London, including prestigious programs at Harrow and the Royal College of Art. She accredits much of her growth and creative inspiration to the mentorship and guidance of esteemed artists and teachers encountered throughout her academic and professional endeavours.

At the core of Aneta’s artistic practice lie themes of memory, the passage of time, displacement, and nostalgia for her familial home, childhood, as well as the surrounding landscape and local folklore. These themes serve as the philosophical underpinning for her creative exploration and expression, imbuing her work with depth, resonance, and enduring relevance.
