Park creates monochrome Moon Jars. Traditionally, Moon Jars were made from porcelain but Park instead uses a Korean white-slip stoneware called ‘Buncheong’. The Moon Jars are then fired using a traditional, self-built, wood-fired kiln to achieve authentic grey-green stoneware, Park then applies minimalistic yet expressive decoration by pouring white-slip onto the jars. Park also deconstructs the moon jar into a two-dimensional format using buncheong. These ceramic paintings are constructed out of hundreds of small pieces, each dipped in the white slip a number of times to create a delicately subtle palette of clay.
